The interval between sampling and the treatment given will affect bacterial growth in number and type besides the presence or absence of white blood cells and red blood cells. Though E.coli is common in prostate infection, it is by no means exclusive. Though human error is unlikely, it can never be excluded.
The symptoms of frequency, urgency incontinence and irregular urine volume suggest probable abnormal bladder function. Presenting all previous reports and a 72-hour voiding diary during consultation would helpful to expedite further management.
