Is it difficult to refix the filling recently chipped off from a molar tooth near the end of the upper jaw? How long does it take and is it expensive?

It depends on the extent and depth of the chipped off area. If you don't have any sign and symptoms, you may consider having the cavity re-filled with filling materials like amalgam or composite , or you may choose a more durable way of fixing the tooth, which is the inlay.
For normal filling, it can be finished in one dental visit. But for inlay , it takes two.
For the treatment fee, inlay is in general more expensive than a simple filling
